Trauma
Trauma is the emotional response to a distressing life experience. Most people experience some kind of trauma in their life time. Traumatic events can be sudden, unpredictable, and sometimes life threatening. An event is traumatic to the extent our safety and security are at risk. Trauma informed care treats the whole person, and not just the symptoms. Trauma therapy helps to reduce responses that come from past trauma.
Ashley uses a combination of trauma therapies that are globally recognized, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), helping to process traumatic memories and Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented therapeutic model helping people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Through the use of these modalities, as well as, other techniques, clients see a reduction in anxiety and depression and an overall sense of increased well-being.
